Christian relief found in Lernahovit

According to the Service for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserves and the Historical Environment of the Republic of Armenia, a unique relief monument on a Christian theme, most probably from the early Middle Ages, was discovered in the community of Lernahovit during work to replace gas pipes.

Besides the almost completely preserved monolith, separate fragments were also found. Specialists have been sent to the community to study the find.

The relief shows a figure with a halo placing a hand on the head of another figure standing in water. The edges are carved with ornaments.
