The bullet-pierced cross of Saint Grigor church of Aykadzor
The photograph shows the cross of Saint Grigor church of the village of Aykadzor, which bears numerous bullet marks. It was shot at during the years of the Turkish troops and of the Soviet anti-religious policy.
The metal cross stands on a sphere placed on a granite pedestal. Numerous holes are visible on the cross and the sphere. Around it are granite slabs with Armenian names and dates, and behind it is a modern glass-fronted building.
The cross was moved and erected in Gyumri in memory of the executed Armenian clergy of the Diocese of Shirak.
