Khachkar from the ruins of Mayravank, Berd
An Armenian khachkar (cross-stone). It was found buried among the 12th-century ruins of Mayravank Monastery in the town of Berd, Tavush Province, Armenia.
The khachkar stands against an old stone wall. In the centre is a cross with interlaced ornament, with leaf-like motifs beneath it. Around the cross runs a frame of square panels with interlace and geometric patterns. Cracks are visible in the stone.
