The “Lovers’ Khachkar” near Mastara
This khachkar on a hilltop was made in 1223 and is known as the “Lovers’ Khachkar”. It stands near the village of Mastara in the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia.
The photograph shows the front of the khachkar, carved in reddish stone. A cross is carved in the centre with a large rosette below it, surrounded by many interlaced patterns.
