Violinist Ara Malikian
Ara Malikian is a Spanish violinist of Armenian origin and the winner of many prizes. He was born on 14 September 1968 in Beirut. He learned the violin from early childhood under his father’s guidance and gave his first concert at the age of 12. At 14 he left Lebanon and lived for a long time in Germany, where he played Jewish music at weddings. He now lives in Madrid.
In 2020 the film “Ara Malikian: A Life Between Strings”, made by him and his wife, the producer and director Nata Moreno, was named best documentary at the Goya Awards. “This film is about refugees,” Malikian said. “I am a refugee myself.”
