Orchestra of Armenian students in Kharkiv, 1914
Orchestra of Armenian students in Kharkiv, 1914.
The photograph shows about 30 young men sitting and standing on and around a carpet, holding string instruments, violins, a guitar and a frame drum. Some wear student uniforms, others Eastern costume, headscarves and woollen hats. A Russian inscription below calls the group the “Eastern Student Orchestra” and names its leader, Grigori (the surname is not clearly legible).
