Arto Galusyan and the satellite dish
Arto Galusyan is the inventor of the multi-feed satellite dish. In the 1960s, in the Soviet Union, he was one of the most gifted students of the Yerevan Technical College and excelled in radio-electronic communications. In the late 1960s he found himself in Iran, served in the Shah’s army and worked on military radio communication projects.
In the 1970s, before the revolution, he moved to London and founded his own satellite communications business. In 1993 he was the first to install a multi-feed satellite dish, but for lack of funding he was unable to keep the rights to his patent.
The photograph shows the man standing by a large white satellite dish, with a ladder beside him.
