The Sardarapat Memorial
The Sardarapat Memorial was opened in May 1968 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Armenian people’s victory in the Battle of Sardarapat. It stands in Armenia, near the village of Araks, 10 km from the town of Armavir. In 1918 Armavir was called Sardarapat, and the battle and the memorial took their name from it.
The photograph shows the bell tower of reddish stone, the wide stairway leading to it and the large winged bull sculptures on both sides.
