The folding icon of King Hetum II
The folding icon of King Hetum II is a masterpiece of 13th-century Armenian art. It is kept in Etchmiadzin (Vagharshapat).
The icon consists of three parts. The central wooden panel bears a metal crucifix. The two side wings are covered with gold-coloured metal embossed with images of saints and an angel, in round medallions and at full length, with inscriptions running along the borders.
