The Ruined Bridge of Ani
A ruined bridge in the ancient Armenian city of Ani (Western Armenia). Its ruins stand on the banks of the Akhurian River, on the Armenian–Turkish border. The bridge was built in the 11th century, in the time of the Armenian Bagratid dynasty.
The photograph shows the remains of the bridge’s stone piers on both banks of the river flowing through a green gorge.
