Ktuts Monastery on Lake Van

Ktuts Monastery, or the Church of Surb Karapet (Saint John the Baptist), dates from the 15th century. It stands on Ktuts Island in Lake Van, in the province of Vaspurakan, Western Armenia.

The photograph shows the half-ruined stone church with a rectangular plan. On the façade are an entrance and a window; on the roof is a small dome with a pointed top. Around the church are dry grass and stones; behind it are the lake and a sandy shore, with a mountain in the distance.
