Silver vessel from the Arin Berd hoard
Urartian art: an object from a hoard of silver items of the Achaemenid period, 6th century BC. The hoard was discovered in 1968 at the foot of the Arin Berd hill and is kept in the Erebuni Museum in Yerevan.
The photograph shows a horn-shaped silver vessel with a wide rim and vertical fluting, its lower end formed as a horse with folded forelegs. The horse wears a bridle, and its mane is finely worked. The vessel stands on a base covered with green cloth.
