Albert Azaryan on the rings

The photograph shows Albert Azaryan, one of the most glorious names of the Armenian people and of world gymnastics. He is on the rings with his arms stretched out to the sides, in a white gymnastics outfit. Behind him is the gymnastics hall with spectators.

Azaryan entered the history of gymnastics as an unsurpassed master of the rings: 3 times Olympic champion, 4 times world champion and 2 times European champion. He changed the history of the sport, leaving his name forever in the “Azaryan cross” element created on the rings.

His life and victories became a symbol of national pride, willpower and faith in victory for the Armenian people.
