Ararat is one of the best-known and most successful teams in Armenian football. The club was founded in 1935 in Yerevan. One of the most celebrated years in its history was 1973, when Ararat won both the championship and the cup of the Soviet Union. That victory became one of the most significant achievements in the history of Armenian football. Ararat remains one of the most beloved football clubs in Armenia to this day.
