Armenian Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Paris
The Armenian Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Paris stands in the city’s 8th arrondissement, at 15 rue Jean-Goujon, near the Champs-Élysées and the Seine. It was built in 1904 with funds from the well-known oil industrialist and benefactor Alexander Mantashev. It was the first Armenian Apostolic church built in France. The building was designed by the French architect Albert-Désiré Guilbert.
The cathedral is an important spiritual and cultural centre for the large Armenian community of Paris and France. In 2018 the farewell ceremony for Charles Aznavour took place here.
