Silver amulet pendant, 1877
Front and back of a silver Armenian amulet pendant dated 1877. It comes from Western Armenia (Eastern Anatolia) and measures 6.5 × 4 cm. Such amulets were hung on a child's cradle or on the clothing of small children.
The front of the drop-shaped pendant is engraved with a six-pointed star in a circle, surrounded by stars, crescents and flowers, with a basket of flowers at the top. On the back an Armenian inscription runs around the edge, and the year 1877 appears in the middle in Arabic-script numerals.
