Seeing off the repatriates, Marseille, 1947
The return of the Armenians. On 6 September 1947 people gathered in the port of Marseille (France) said farewell to the Armenians returning to the homeland.
The photograph shows a large ship crowded with passengers standing on the decks and at the railings. On the left a large crowd has gathered on the quay. A French banner hangs on the side of the ship, on which the words “Long live” and “friendship” can be read.
