Calouste Gulbenkian
Calouste Gulbenkian (1869–1955), according to the source, descended from the ancient Armenian noble house of Rshtuni. After graduating with distinction from King’s College in London, he went at the start of his career to his father in Baku for practical training. There he studied the local oil industry in depth and published a study on the development and exploitation of the oil resources of the Absheron Peninsula. He later became a major British oil magnate and philanthropist.
In the photograph Gulbenkian is an elderly man in a hat and a long overcoat, holding a walking stick. He stands on a garden path against a background of conifers.
