The Column of Marcus Aurelius, which mentions Armenia. The column stands in Rome, in Piazza Colonna, the square named after it. It was erected between 176 and 192 in honour of the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius’ victory in the Marcomannic War.
The photograph shows the tall column with a spiral band of relief carving and a statue on top. It stands on a rectangular pedestal; behind it is a multi-storey building, and in the square are people and police vehicles.
