Vessel for preparing the Holy Myron
This vessel is used in the Armenian Apostolic Church for preparing the Holy Myron. It is kept in Armenia, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
The large silver-coloured cauldron stands on four scrolled feet. Its lid has the shape of a many-sided pyramid covered with patterns, and on top, on a ball, sits a small figure of a dove. The cauldron has winged handles on its sides, and on its body, within arched frames, groups of people are shown in relief. There are bands of inscription on the lid and on the lower part. A painting hangs on the wall behind.
