General Andranik’s grave at Père Lachaise Cemetery
The grave of General Andranik (Andranik Pasha) at Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. In January 1928 his remains were brought to Paris and buried here, and in 2000 they were reburied with honours in Yerevan, at the Yerablur heroes’ cemetery.
The stone monument shows the general on a horse rearing on its hind legs. Below are carved a winged figure and a group of soldiers. The pedestal bears inscriptions in French and Armenian, “To General Andranik”, and in French also “Armenian National Hero” and the years 1866–1927. An Armenian tricolour flag lies near the horse’s hoof, and flowers stand before the pedestal.
