Giving Out Books at the Aramian School in Sebastia
At the Aramian School in Sebastia, poor children received free books and shoes from Serop Kilarjian, known as “Uncle Shining Light”. The source links this to Christmas, as an example of giving without expecting anything in return.
In the photograph a man in a fez sits behind a table with books on it, placed by the door of a building. Beside him are tall piles of books. Children stand around the table: boys in caps and a girl with braids, some of them holding books and papers.
