Alexander Kemurdzhian, creator of the Lunokhod chassis
The photograph shows the design engineer Alexander Kemurdzhian in a dark suit and tie, wearing thick-rimmed glasses. He is the founder of space transport engineering and the creator of the world's first planetary rovers.
The main achievement of Kemurdzhian's life was the creation of the self-propelled chassis of the Lunokhod. Thanks to him, in 1970, for the first time in human history, an automatic device moved across the surface of the Moon. He is the author of more than 200 scientific works and more than 50 inventions. In the history of space exploration his name is linked with the first lunar and Martian steps.
