Sose Mayrik and Dro, Cairo, 1947

The photograph shows Sose Mayrik, widow of Serob Aghbyur, hero of the Western Armenian national liberation struggle. Beside her stands Drastamat Kanayan (Dro), the last minister of war of the First Republic of Armenia and one of its generals. The photograph was taken in 1947 in Cairo.

Sose Mayrik wears a black headscarf and glasses and holds a walking stick. Dro wears a suit, a tie and a long overcoat. Behind them, by a door with an ornamental grille, stands a man in a white turban and a long shirt.

Today the remains of Sose Mayrik and Dro rest in their native land, at Yerablur and in Bash-Aparan (Aparan).
