William Saroyan with Armenian writers in Armenia

The well-known American writer of Armenian descent William Saroyan among Armenian writers and cultural figures during his visit to Armenia. Among those present are Rachia Hovhannisyan and Aramashot Papayan. Saroyan’s visit was a significant event, as he took a deep interest in his Armenian roots and culture.

In the photograph a group of men and several children sit and stand on the steps before the door of an old stone building, probably a church or monastery. The inscription in the lower left corner indicates that the photograph belongs to the collection of the Yeghishe Charents Museum of Literature and Art.
