Princess Obolenskaya in Armenian dress

Princess Elizaveta Nikolaevna Obolenskaya in traditional Armenian dress, which she wore at a court costume ball. Saint Petersburg, 1870s–1880s.

The photograph is hand-coloured. The young woman stands in front of a backdrop painted with rocks. She wears an ornamented headdress and has long braids; she is dressed in a gown with an embroidered bodice, a dark outer garment, an ornamented belt, a long light-coloured skirt and a fringed shawl.
