Hovhannes Aivazovsky, “Darial Gorge”, 1862
Hovhannes Aivazovsky (Aivazyan), “Darial Gorge”, 1862.
The painting shows a narrow mountain gorge lit by moonlight, with cliffs wrapped in clouds. A caravan of riders and pack animals moves along the riverbank, and on the right, beneath a cliff, is a group of people. A snow-covered peak can be seen in the distance.
