Armenian silver cup and saucer, 18th century
Armenian silver cup and saucer, 18th century. The image of the lion on the saucer is taken from the silver coins of King Hetum I and Queen Zabel (13th century, Cilician Armenia).
In the centre of the saucer is a lion with a cross, surrounded by four heart-shaped frames containing interlaced Armenian letters. The decoration is filled with blue and green enamel. On the side of the cup interlaced letters also appear between two angels, and the handle is shaped like an animal.
