The Terzian family in Constantinople, 1889
The photograph shows the Armenian Terzian family. It was taken on 1 August 1889 in Constantinople, at the studio of the Gülmez Brothers.
At that time Constantinople had one of the largest Armenian communities in the world, and Armenians played an active role in the city’s cultural, economic and public life.
There are 4 people in the picture: an elderly woman with glasses in the middle, a young woman and a moustached man on either side of her, and a teenage boy in a suit in front.
