An Armenian father with his daughters, Baku, 1909

This archival photograph shows an Armenian man with his daughters. It was taken in 1909 in Baku. The father sits in the centre holding his youngest daughter in his arms, and the other three girls, in white dresses, are around him.

The father is bearded and wears a dark suit and tie. Behind them are a painted studio backdrop and a potted plant. Along the bottom edge is the studio’s stamp with the word “Baku” in Russian.
